...having Fun at the

Kentucky Derby!

(and not a horse in sight...)

Hi!  I'm Wendy, owner of

Angel In Your Kitchen Personal Chef Services!

A lot of folks ask me how I got started in this business,

and what "qualifies" me to do what I do...!

As a little girl, my prize possessions were my "play" pots and pans
and my Easy Bake Oven!  My family endured many "creations"
baked by my loving little hands and a light bulb!
My sweet mama was never big on cooking, but would let me
dirty every pot and pan in the kitchen to pursue my quest of
self-taught culinary skills.  She would have been the first to tell
you that SHE didn't have any to pass along.  She was the best
'cause she didn't mind cleaning up my messes.  My daddy encouraged
me to consider a career as a caterer since I could never cook
small amounts of anything, and he would always ask me...
"Where's the Army that's gonna eat all this food?"

After attending numerous institutions of higher learning

(Atlantic Christian College, Louisburg College, Wake Technical Community College),
I managed to graduate from East Carolina University
with a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education.

The week after graduation, I convinced my daddy that I "needed" to attend Bartending School.

He had a hard time understanding why he "needed" to "invest"

MORE MONEY on educating me after SIX YEARS of college....
"But daddy, how can I be a caterer if I can't ...BARTEND?"
So off to Bartending School I went!

From there, I worked in every aspect of the hotel industry while pursuing my love of feeding people on the side!  With my catering business,
Angels On Call, I fed large groups of people for over 20 years, until the late 1990's!
During this time, I also taught cooking classes for seven years.

For six years, I owned A Tisket A Tasket Gift Baskets!

I guess one could consider me a "glutton for punishment" as I've
always been dabbling in several things at the same time.
I have become quite competent in managing the stresses
I create for myself and MUST be BUSY
and maintain order and perfection!
(That Virgo Personality...)

Of course, that's what my clients need me and why they're so
satisfied with my services.  Along the way, I have edited two cookbooks and compiled one of my own...
a compilation of Perry Family favorites!
I am currently working on publishing my next book, the first ever
ECU Alumni Cookbook... a tailgate tale!  Stay tuned for more about that to come...

As my catering business grew, so did my list of services.
Many brides would ask me to help them with more than catering,
so voilà ...

Since I was consulting, coordinating, and developing a strong network of assorted vendors, I figured the smart thing to do was to actually get paid for doing all this "extra" work!

In 1998, I discovered some thing NEW... the Personal Chef industry!

After researching this exciting new world, I came to the realization...

"I KNOW WHAT I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP!"

So, was born!

I soon had my first client, and the rest is history!

Opportunities to appear on WPTF radio, WTVD Newschannel 11 and WRAL TV opened the door a little wider...
along with my "Kiss The Cook" column which has appeared in 4 local newspapers!

The most exciting thing to happen has been an article in the
June 2004 issue of
magazine, featuring yours truly!

My most recent media coverage is in

In March 2000, I Co-Founded

and Co-Authored The Making of a Personal Chef©  In December of 2005, I sold my half of the company to pursue other things on my lifetime "to do" list.  In addition to my ECU cookbook venture, I am also working on taking a food product to market.  I can't tell you what that is just yet, but again, stay tuned!

In 2005,   was borne...
